Jean Dubuffet MEGA Animal sculpture

All right... So this is how it all got started...The other art teacher that works in my building was working with foam, and she was going to buy some more to do some project.... I told her that you can most likely get it cheeper at like Home Depot. Because they sell it 4'x8' sheets..... So a few week later we were looking at Jean Dubffet Sculpture, and we where thinking that they could be made out of foam... So we got 5 sheets of it.  We were going to make some people, but then we ran into the problem of how to get them to stand????? So we where looking at Jean art work again... and one of his sculputures look like a giraffe.  So we got to work.. making a giraffe.. and then came the elephant.

The Giraffe.. stands about 12 feet tall, and the elephant is 8 feet long and about 9 feet tall
I think...

I will take more pictures when they are standing in the lobby of are school.... but here is what we have done so for...

QR Code Project update...

So here is what final twist of the project was... We built wall... or building around the black part of the code..

Some students did a very nice job... and some had a hard time doing it... so some had to switch to making tubes..... Oh well..

Blog help

Does any look at there stats on the blogger? Well I have about 3-4 referring URL that are spamming my site my views per day have gone up into the 200... Is there a way to block those site? Does any know?

QR Code Project

1. Students make thier own QR Code using thier name.
2.  Count out a 10x10 square on thier QR code that they found fun to look at
3. They have a 12"x12" paper and we traced the ruler to make it 1" grid to  make 100 squares
4.  Then they copy their QR code on thier paper using Sharpie. When they copy it we made line design in it, for the black squares.

I have more pictures... to come..because the project is not done... There is another twist to this project.

Ok... I am really upset about pencils this year.  The other art I work with and I dont get it.  Every year we try a new brand of pencils out.  And Every year it is the same story... You get your brand new pencil and you are going to sharpen it. and the lead break right off.

Light Painting

This school year I started teaching LINES to my kindergarten.  For the past 2 weeks we been drawing lines and using them in different ways.  But I wanted to try something new and very different.  So I got some little LED lights, and a good camera. We  did some light painting, in are light paintings we did lines and shapes.  The students really liked it.. They thought it was cool that they drawings would show on like that on the camera.

2nd and 3rd Picasso Cubist Animals

Well as I was clean the basement the other day I came across some pictures of students work that I did a while back..  These were alot of fun.  This was my first time doing this project, and that year I did it I only had one 3rd grade so I did it with them and all of my 2nd graders as well to test it out.  3rd understood the cubist idea a bit better.  Anyways.. I found this project one Artsonia somewhere. sorry I dont remember where.

But I explain to the student that we are drawing an animal but enlarging part of thier bodies, and twisting thier bodies as well.  Trace the line with glue.  Then we use chalk to color it in work from light to dark colors and then dark to light.

Whos know what else I will find in the basement.

I am not sure about all of this.. anyways what are your thoughts?

For the past two summers now I take the kids (my kids) on walk and my daughter who is now 5 has her own digital camera.  She take pictures of whatever she wants.. so does her photo need to be hanging in a gallery????  :)

2nd Grade Tree Prints

Ok.. This is how we do the tree prints.
We use the foam printing stuff.  We have are students draw first what they want to do on paper.  Then trace their drawing on to the foam printing plate.  Next we have them print on Black paper, using white ink.  After all the ink dries they use crayon to color on top of the ink. (color pencil works great as well)  After they I have them use texture plates to make a rubbing on black paper and use a white crayon for the rubbing.  Cut out thier print, and glue it on top.

Number. 2 Update on Sock Monsters.

Ok... This are the sock Monsters that my 5th graders made.. Not bad I thought.  They had alot of fun doing it, but it did take about 8 weeks to do.  Student where busy working all 8 weeks they were really into it.. I had more pictures but I left them at school
