This is my first try at making a "Sock Monster", and I am not sure that I am done with it. The other art teacher I work with is going to be making these with her 5th graders, but I am not sold on the idea yet. I think it is going to be a bit hard for them to take a sock and cut it all up and sew it all back together and make something out of it. I know mine looks very ruff. If any one has any thoughts on this I or have done something like this I would love to hear them.. thanks..

5th Grade Deconstructing Still-Life by Eating
I found this lesson on Art for Small Hands, and I really enjoyed the way it look so Thank you. I did change a few things we used water color pencil instead of marker. Then we cut out each drawing and glued it to a black background. I let the students pick if they wanted their picture to go vertical or horizontal. Also I gave my students homework for this project it was super easy all they had to do was bring in a piece of fruit they like to eat so they could draw it. They all really enjoy this project.

1st Grade Fall Landscapes
I saw this project somewhere else on the web many years ago, but I am not sure where anymore sorry. I really seem to enjoy doing with my 1st graders. I teach it with oil pastels, we also talk about highlights and shadows on an object. It is a great way to show (foreground, midground and background) with the pumkins.
