Ok I do t really post stuff unless we are all the way done with a project. But I wanted you all to have a tasted of what we are doing. Well last year the other art teacher I work with changed are clay owl project to a slab rectangle one. But I still did the old one which you can find on the my blog. So this year I tried the slab one out but with a circle. I know what you are thinking what a rebel I am. Anywho this is what they look like so for. I will post when we are all way done with them.

Getting all dressed up.
First of all I know what you are thing this is a follow up to my stains. Nope you all are wrong it's not I fooled you again. Hahaha. Ok for real now. So one of my favorite authors is Mo Willems. So we were reading the book "Naked Mole Rat Gets Dress". So I showed my first grader how to draw a naked mole rat. Then I let my fristy pick what they wanted to dress them up in.
After I did this I had a thought it would be cool to have them dress up there mole rat in what they want to be when they grow up. That could be neat to see.

Koi fish
So a bit ago we make clay fish with are 3rd grader so I was looking for a fish project to do with them. Somehow I came across a koi fish project from smArt Class blog. She showed you step by step on how to make a really great fish drawing.
So I gave my students 12"x24" paper and told them to draw as big as they could. We did the drawing step by step. Then we did the marker and paint water over it. They turned out great. Thanks again smArt class for the great project. My students loved it.

A bad week for my.....
Ok well this was a bad week for my clothes. First i got red and a bit of blue tempera paint on my grey shirt. Which I used carpet cleaner to get it out. Which work very well. Then as I was getting the black India ink ready it leak out of the cap. Then drips of it came down on my pants. I couldnt find anything to get the ink out. Oh well what is an art teacher to do. Right. Well do you all have any tips for getting black India ink out. I know everyone would love to hear them.
You know we should have a list of cleaners that will take out stains for all the stuff we do. We (me) are messy just like my messy blog.
Over and out

Best gift ever so for.
So on Friday my kinders came to art. And on of my students brought me the best gift ever. She brought this big box in to me. It was a room/house. She glued on old wallpaper on it. And inside there is a desk, fireplace, cross on the wall, and a refrigerator with doors that open. It was really sweet of her.

Packing portraits
Ok let me start out this was one of the easy projects this year for me to teacher. But one of the most challenging projects for them. I told my 5th graders that they were going to make a selfportrait. They had to use all there prior knowledge to make it. Which they have because I do selfportrait with the other grades.
There were rules to this project. I gave them one piece of black paper to work on.
1. They could only use the packing materials that were in my box.
2. The only tools they could use are there hands. (no scissors) And they could use glue.
I will tell you what a lot of my students thought this was one of the must fun projects they did this year. It made them think about what they were doing and they also had to be great problem solvers.
I think they turned out wonderful.
Please let me know what you think.

Update: To Honesty on square at a time
Ok know that you all have been sitting on pins and needle waiting for this update. Well here it is. Boy did this project take forever but they turn out So Grrrreat. I am so proud of my 4th graders. So if you read the other post you know what is going on. So I had my students write words on their portraits that were important to them and be really honest with themselves. We used markers to color it in. They were told to use analogous colors. Then we outline in sharpie. I think are amazing. I don't know what else to say. What do you all think. Let me know I live to hear what you all think. Thanks.
