The hated sweater.

Ok I have this sweater my wife really hates. I have had this sweater for many years. So I thought it was about time to get ride of it. But being the me and I can turn just about nothing into something. I figure I would start working on a Xmas gift for my wife. So I know she never looks at my blog so i would share this with all of you. The hated sweater has now became a brand new purse for her. I cut up the sweater and got out the sewing machine and made this wonderful purse she is going to love/hate.

Hahaha!

I just adore a man who sews and cooks! Kudos to you for being so creative and original, but please don't be offended if she appreciates the thought and effort but doesn't like the purse. Did you ever think maybe it was the hideous color combo that made her dislike it so?

Loving this post! (Please don't hate me for my opinion on the color palette of the sweater/purse.)

I should say the color palette AND the chevron design.

On the other hand, I have some old sweaters that I don't care for any more, and maybe you have sparked some ideas...

Philly. She will love it. Or learn to love it. Hahahah. I mean how many men would even think about doing that. And genius love the color green and they really like green with green. Hahahhah.
Thanks for giving me props.
You should see what else I been working on. I did one for the creative challenge. But I really not sure about posting them yet.

Hey there B Boy,

I can appreciate the hard work you put into the sweater purse, but I agree with Phyl. Your wife will probably find some way to make it disappear after the tree has been recycled and the pine needles have been vacuumed up! ( I know that's what I would do.......) You get points for effort but you know she hates that sweater!

Ok double p's

I think you have it all wrong. She is going to get the bestest kick out of it. She is going to want to carry that thing to all the fancy dinner parties we getting invited to. It is almost like having a louie Vuitton but this one is a really bad knock off and been used. All her friends are going to want to have this purse. I think you all are just jeslous that you don't have the green green purse. Hahaha. Always if she doesnt want it my daughter loves it. She thinks it is great.

I just popped over from Mr. E.'s blog. So funny!! You might have a second career idea here -- you could be making custom sweater purses. These colors look like like they might go nicely with a camouflage outfit!!! Now there's an idea!! But seriously, I think your wife is going to applaud the great effort!!Thanks for sharing.

This is the best! I hope your wife appreciates it. Or at least gets a good laugh out of it!

Ok, for us sewing bloggers, how about instructions? Did you line it ?

Can't wait to hear her reaction!

And how has Clever Feather seen you in the sweater, when you won't let the rest of us see more than a piece of your cute face? I'm jealous!

Well I am so glad that everyone is stopping over to my mess. Also thanks so much for the comment I am glad that everyone enjoyes my purse that I made.

I will be taking order at the first of the year. So you all better get in line. If you want a One of a kind Mr. R's purses.

Philly to answer your question. These purse is not lined. I thought about that but I didn't have anything to line it with.
But all the orders will be lined.

Your other question about the clever feather. Well she and I work together last year at the same school. I travel to her school one day of the week.

It was funny the other day my wife brought up that sweater and commented on how much she hated it. But I am not sure if my daughter over heared, but my daughter is pretty bright one. She came up to me the other morning and said dad. "if mom didnt like that sweater. I don't think she will like it as a purse". She is in 1st grade. I told her that is the risk I am going to take. And if mom don't like it she can have it.

Anyways for everyone that is stopping bye new and old. Please stay tuned in you will never know what will happen next in my messy art room.

Also big thanks to mr. E. for his post bring all the people to see all my wonderful stuff and to get a good laugh.

Thanks again

This is HILARIOUS. You will have to repost her reaction. If I were her, I would never get rid of the purse, just for the story. Love it.

LOVE this! SO funny--it is just what my husband and I would do--wish I could see your wife's face when she unwraps her surprise purse! Maybe she'll just tie a scarf on the handle of the purse and embrace the green/green-ness!

Me thinks that "sweater-purse" is begging for a "sock-belt" to go with it. You must have some argyle socks w/ holes that your wife has been begging you to toss, right?
