So I found this on Pinterest which lead me to k6art.com. And I thought what a great project for my 1st grades. We talked about different color groups. They enjoyed it plus it adds a little flare to my room. They love seeing what they made as a group hanging in my room.

I am EXTREMELY jealous that you're allowed to hang things from your ceiling! I can't even hang tissue paper balls from fishing line above my tables to color code them! I'd really like to make a Chihuly inspired sculpture like this but my custodians won't let me hang it...even temporarily!!! I'll have to make a free-standing one that sits on the floor. Oh, and the sculptures look great! :)
